Criteria for Transudate Pleural Effusion

How is Transudate Pleural Effusion diagnosed?

• Pleural fluid protein/serum protein ratio less than 0.5

• Pleural fluid LDH/serum LDH ratio less than 0.6

• Pleural fluid LDH less than 2/3 of the upper limit of normal serum LDH.

Causes of Transudate Pleural Effusion:

Congestive heart failure.
