Major Depressive Disorder vs Dysthymic Disorder:
What are the findings in major depressive disorder?
At lease five of the following symptoms:
• Depressed mood.
• Sleep disorder.
• Anhedonia (lack of interest).
• Guilt.
• Lack of energy.
• Lack of concentration.
• Loss of appetite.
• Psychomotor agitation or retardation.
• Thoughts of suicide.
What are the findings in dysthymic disorder (dysthymia)?
Less intense than major depressive disorder. Some findings include:
• Low energy.
• Altered sleeping and eating habits.
• Low self-esteem.
• Anhedonia.
