Types of Antipsychotics:

Type Potency Benefits Symptoms Examples
Typical - 1st generation High potency Improve positive symptoms only Extrapyramidal symptoms Haloperidol, Fluphenazine, Pimozide
Low potency Anti-cholinergic and anti-histamine symptoms Chlorpromazine, Thioridazine
Atypical - 2nd generation Improve positive and negative symptoms Clozapine, Olanzapine, Risperidone, Quetiapine
