Adult derivatives:
•Telencephalon: cerebral hemispheres and most of basal ganglia; lateral ventricle.
•Diencephalon: thalamus, pineal gland, neurohypophysis, hypothalamus, retina; third ventricle.
•Mesencephalon: midbrain; cerebral aqueduct.
•Metencephalon: pons and cerebellum; fourth ventricle.
•Myelencephalon: medulla; fourth ventricle.

Axonal polyneuropathies:
• Glove and stocking weakness and sensory defects.
• Defective axonal transport.

Anterograde: toward axon terminal; microtubules, kinesin.
Retrograde: away from axon terminal; microtubules, dynein.

Retrograde axonal transport: affected by exogenous substances like herpes, polio, rabies, and tetanus.

Multiple sclerosis: CNS demyelinating disease.
