Genus: Bacteriodes/Prevotella.

• Gram -; anaerobic; LPS.

B. fragilis.
• Anaerobic Gram- rod.
• Found in human colon.
• Endogenous infection.

Pathogenesis:
• Modified LPS; antiphagocytic capsule.

Diseases:
• Septicemia, peritonitis, abdominal abscesses.

Treatment: metronidazole, clindamycin, cefoxitin.
• Surgically drain abscesses.
